Objective Exams Trick 3 - Elimination Technique

When one of the statements is incorrect or correct, then a few multiple options can be eliminated. You just need to know only basic awareness. You don’t need to know anything about the question. The following are a few previous questions that you can answer with the elimination technique.

If elimination is not possible and When you do not know anything about a question, you can’t do anything about it. Without wasting your time on that question, move to the next question.

In the cities of our country, which among the following atmospheric gases are normally considered in calculating the value of Air Quality Index?

  1. Carbon dioxide
  2. Carbon monoxide
  3. Nitrogen dioxide
  4. Sulfur dioxide
  5. Methane

Select the correct answer using the code given below.

A)1, 2 and 3 only
B)2, 3 and 4 only
C)1, 4 and 5 only
D)1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Logic: Though Carbon dioxide causes major pollution, AQI does not monitor it. This is odd. This has to be known. By applying this one point alone, all options are eliminated Except B. Hence answer is B.

Consider the following pairs:

  2. Khajuraho : Bundelkhand
  3. Shirdi : Vidarbha
  4. Nasik (Nashik) : Malwa
  5. Tirupati : Rayalaseema

Which of the pairs given above are correctly matched?

A)1, 2 and 4
B)2, 3, 4 and 5
C)2 and 5 only
D)1, 3, 4 and 5

Explanation: If you observe all the 5 matchings, you would confuse. But make it simple. Analyze statement by statement. 4th statement – Nasik is in Maharashtra and Malwa is definitely NOT in Maharashtra. That implies the 4th statement is incorrect. Then all options are eliminated except C. This is the answer.
