To crack a government exam or to get a government job, you should know a few basic principles. These principles are applicable to all government exams. You should not try for any government job, unless you are fully aware of these guidelines. If you want to crack the government exams without coaching on the first attempt, a good strategy is a must.
No matter who you are, no matter what your academic scores are, you can still get a government job without any coaching when you become the humblest of the humble. Miracle happens when you believe in yourself and God. The following directions will help you to devise a successful strategy to qualify for any government exam.
Go through the recruiting processes for different examinations that you wish to prepare for. You will get to know the examination procedure, qualifications, syllabus, the scale of pay, etc. for different government competitive examinations.
Once you get aware of different examinations, analyze the syllabus of these examinations. You can take the help of previous years’ question papers for this task. From the analysis, you will know the depth of the questions asked, the level of the exam, the efforts you need to put in, etc.
Now you should compare the skills you possess and what the examination expects. It would be much easier to get a government job when the skills expected for the exam matches your skills. Evaluating your skills based on your aptitude and attitude will help you to take a final decision.
This is the crucial step you should take after giving it a lot of thought process. You should be crystal clear as to why you want to join the government sector. It should be your own decision. It should not be forced on you by your parents, friends, or any other trivial reason. If you do so, you will lose interest after a few months of preparation. In reality, you need to spend a few years of precious time preparing for a government job. During this period, you should inculcate a few traits such as consistency, perseverance, discipline, determination, and dedication. Even if you fail in getting a government job, your preparation will not go in vain because you will gain wisdom from your preparation that will change the course of your life.
You should prepare a plan that sets the targets for completion of the syllabus based on the time available to you before the examination. You will get exhausted if you study 24×7. Based on your memory and analytical powers, your time of preparation should differ from the rest of the aspirants. Hence it is advisable to set your own targets based on your strengths but not from others. For example, a plan of 3 hours of study is much better than a plan of 20 hours of study when the latter is not achievable. You should also provide time for entertainment, family, and friends. These breaks relax your body and brain.
Any plan, in general, never goes as planned. So, your plan should be revised based on your performance once a month. The non-implementable plan is a waste of time. That’s why all activities should be included in the plan.
It’s time to study according to the plan you devised. It is advantageous when the same set of books is studied repeatedly rather than reading a completely different set of books each time.
Due to various reasons, you might lose 5 to 10 marks which are very crucial for your selection in the examination. With practice, you can avoid these costly mistakes. You should do as many mistakes as possible during practice. But you should learn from these mistakes and improve your score in the examination.
Unless you are an ‘Ekasanthagrahi’ (ఏకసంథాగ్రాహి), you cannot remember everything that you have studied. It requires a revision to fully comprehend the concepts and to remember them. A revision of three times is better to recollect the concepts during the exam.
At least a couple of days before the exam, you should stop studying. Collect all things required to appear for the exam like a pen, hall ticket, identity card, etc. Spend time with family to relax.
Be calm and peaceful. Meditate for 30 minutes. Do not let negative thoughts creep into your brain. Answer all questions that you surely know the answers to after reading the paper carefully. Then answer questions that are confusing with the techniques that you have learned during the preparation phase.
Take rest for one week. Don’t think about negative marks and cut-offs. You cannot do anything about it at this stage. So, prepare plans for the next battle (Mains or another exam).
